Slow Bloom

Creative Fundraiser for A New Day

About the Project

Slow Bloom is an art show and fundraiser featuring a collection of original works by artist and art therapist Linnea . Blending personal storytelling, creative practice, and themes of healing, the mini exhibition explores what it means to grow slowly, gently, and imperfectly. A theme that comes up again in again, within both personal and professional fields.

Created over a deeply personal period of reflection and healing, each artwork documents pieces of Linnea’s own lived experience. Through texture, symbolism, colour, and process, the collection invites viewers into conversations around tenderness, resilience, identity, grief, hope, chronic illness, softness, and transformation. Each piece also acts as a reminder that growth and healing are meticulous processes, that worthy of time and care.

Each piece in the small collection is accompanied by a written reflection offering a deeper exploration of the artwork and the themes behind it. As an art therapist, Linnea felt it was important to share some insights, as some folks might be curious? Visitors are invited to engage with the pieces in whatever way feels meaningful to them, whether through curiosity, emotional connection, shared experience, or simply appreciation for the art itself. It is strongly encouraged that you make your own art.

Slow Bloom is rooted in the belief that healing is rarely linear. Growth can be quiet. (And at times seem invisible). Rest can be productive. Art can hold what words sometimes cannot.

The show will feature 8 original artworks and will be available for viewing both online and in person at Sage Wellness from June 15th to June 30th.

Whether you are attending to support the fundraiser, connect with the artwork, or simply spend time with creativity, thank you for being part of this project.

How It Works

Throughout the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win one of the 8 original artworks featured in Slow Bloom. (A rare occasion for Linnea, as she typically only sells prints, and hoards her originals *insert dragon noises here*)

Raffle tickets are:
• $2 for 1 ticket
• $10 for 15 tickets

Tickets can also be purchased via e-transfer.

For more details please email Linnea directly at myeyesareopenstudio@gmail.com

At the end of the exhibition, 8 winners will be selected by draw. Each winner will receive one original artwork from the collection. Which artwork you receive will remain a *surprise* until after the draw, adding an element of mystery and collective participation to the project. Because sometimes surprises are fun, right?

The raffle draw will take place on July 2nd, and winners will be contacted by email.

For those who feel especially connected to a specific piece and do not wish to leave it up to chance, prints of the artworks will also be available for purchase throughout the exhibition.

All proceeds from Slow Bloom will go toward supporting A New Day, a non profit that supports individuals who have experience sexual exploitation or trafficking.

In person viewing will be available from June 15- June 30th at Sage Wellness, my lovely (downstairs) neighbours at 340 Gladstone.

Explore the links below to view the pieces included in the raffle. There will also be 100 bonus mini collages up for grabs.
