This is my cat, closely examining the crafts I made for my very first moon ritual.

The moon has always fascinated me. Since I was a child I have felt the magnified energy within me when the moon is full. This photo was taken during my first moon gathering which happened in January of 2017. Since then I have been hooked!
Moon rituals have been around for over a millennia, and are practiced by cultures around the world. They can consist of large community gatherings, or can be as simple as a few intimate rituals alone, or with a small group of people. Below are some tips and tricks to help you have your own meaningful moon ritual.
1-Understand the cycle. Humans have their own unique cycles and rhythms that are unique to each individual. Each phase of the moon’s cycle can offer different psychological areas to explore. For example, the new moon offers a great time to start a new project or to set a new intention. When the moon is full, new things might be harder to get going.
2- Emotions and feelings can be at an all-time-high during the full moon. Being mindful of our emotions during these emotional high spots can be an excellent practice to help develop self-awareness and self-compassion. Manning emotions does not mean controlling them. Making space for feelings, finding release, art making and dancing are always to allow yourself to experience these (sometimes tricky) emotions. Control is an illusion. Feel the feels.
3- Keep it simple and keep it you. No one will know your body, mind, and preferences better than you. Take time to reflect on what sort of rituals you may want to include in your ritual. There is no right or wrong way per-say. The best way to do it is to follow your intuition. If your intuition says dance, dance. If you want to howl, howl away.
We live in busy times. Life can often get away from us. Moon rituals can keep us connected to nature. The moon is constantly going through changes, as are we. I use moon rituals as a means of reminding myself of the constant flux of life. It gives me the opportunity to reflect on my own life cycles, and to connect with like minded individuals.
