Logo

This is my personal logo.

I made this while I was studying at the Ottawa School of Art. The assignment was to create the most basic visual representation of the self, my very own logo. Below are a few steps inviting you to create your own.

Step 1- Brainstorm

The first step was to reflect on the fundamental aspects of ourselves. You may want to ask yourself ” what symbol defines me as a person?”. During this step try to get as many ideas down as possible. There are no bad ideas in brainstorming!

Step 2- Curate

Once you’ve got all the possible ideas out, now it is time to curate your symbols. Are there a few ideas that you can combine? For mine, I used the idea ideas of dancing women, trees, and water. You may want to combine a few ideas or just use one that works for you. Everyone will have their own. This may also be a good time to think of what colour or colours you want to use.

Step 3- Practice

Once we chose the desired image, I invite you to draw it over and over again. The repetitive creative process can be a way to practice mindfulness. we may find flow in the creation.

Please note, everyone’s process may be different, and my steps are just one of many ways to create a personal logo. Logos may also change over time, and revisiting the activity at different moments in our lives can be a creative way to witness the change in our lives and ourselves.
